1st theory
The reason you left those cowboys behind is that those big hats they wear act
as a parachute and slow the horse down and then the horse builds up those huge
back end  quarter horse muscles trying to fight all that wind resistance. 
2nd theory
The reason you left those cowboys behind is that they ride quarter horses
becuz they can not go fast enuff to blow the cowboys hats off.

Question being What caused the slow riding the hat or the horse?

just wondering?
