Re: Easyboot shock absorption
Patty,
If you have the time, could you please fill us in on some of the particulars as to your training partner's horse which developed the splintered coffin bones. We really don't want to injure our horses and are always interested in learning more as to how we can avoid this in our conditioning, as well as on a ride. Were the horizontal cracks the only sign this horse was developing a problem or was he lame/"off" also? What was the prognosis? Was he ridden excessively on hard ground or pavement? What were his feet like before all this happened? Could you please share more of this story with us? We would greatly appreciate any & all you can tell us about it.
Has anyone else out there on Ridecamp had anything like this happen?
Thank you so much,
Karen

I have been out of endurance riding for 5 years now but miss it so much that recently I started conditioning my horse for limited distance. My former training partner had a horse that developed horizontal cracks on his hooves. She had X-rays taken and was horrified to find out his coffin bones were splintered! The vet said it was from riding on hard ground. My farrier says trotting on hard ground can cause laminitis. I wonder if any tests or experiments have been done to determine how well Easyboots cushion.
