Here are some real sketchy results:
Linda Crandell and LR Forgeym won the 50-mile ride on Saturday in a
three-horse race to the finish. Bob Walsh and Sagamore Houdini finished
third. Lynn Gilbert and GM Chagall were BC for their second ride in a
row. Jeanne Waldron was 6th on her young mare.
Dana Reeder and Iris, Frank Farmer's Anglo-Arab mare who finished second
this year on the Old Dominion 100 to Forgeym, won the two-day 100 in a
race to finish with Valerie Kanavy and Baskin Bacardi. Val's horse won
BC. Only one horse-rider team of three starters finished the 3-day
150--Joanna Blackmore and GM Staccato.Since they were first *and* last,
they were also awarded the turtle award. As the only team to complete
all 300 miles of OD rides this year, they took home a beautiful red
Polarfleece cooler embroidered "Old Dominion Triple Crown 1998 -- 300
Miles."
Prizes are awarded at 300 (cooler), 250 (director's chair), 200 (satin
jacket), 150 (leather halter with nameplate) and 100 (leather shank with
nameplate) mile levels to horse and rider teams that complete any
combination of all three OD rides -- No Frills 25/50, OD 50/100 and Fort
Valley 50/100/150. The purpose of the Triple Crown is to encourage and
recognize all levels of effort, growth and achievement from beginner to
top competitor, and to emphasize to finish is to win.
With a completion on the 100, we achieved our goal of the Triple Crown
at the 250-mile level.
Bobbie Lieberman and Fine Print -- "Can I sit on the director's chair
now?"
