I have had some trouble with my saddle putting pressure on the left side
of my horse's withers...with several different horses. There doesn't
seem to be any difference in the two shoulders...the horses are built
different from each other...
Now, the question was IS IT ME? I thought about how I ride. I've
videoed myself, I've had others critique me, they swear I'm sitting
straight. BUT, anyone who's ever seen me ride knows I never put my
sponge away. I carry my sponge in my right hand and my reins in my left.
I think that may have twisted my body just enough to put pressure on the
left side of the withers. I now concentrate on either switching out with
which hand holds the reins, or trying to keep my sponge hand down next to
the reins minimizing my twist in the saddle. Seems to be working so far.
