I don't know if it is really scratches, but my horses get it on the back of
their white legs and on their noses (if white) this time of year and any other
time that there is a heavy dew for many days. I beleive it has something to do
with the wet/dry cycle of the day. I treat as chapping, using desitin or
sunscreen and it goes away.
