Regarding the posting on not seeing TENS used on horses:
I have used a TENS machine on a 16 yr old paso fino who had an injury to the muscle that runs around the sesamoid bones.
It has been several years, and I don't recall the name of the tissue or what TENS stands for, although at the time it seemed that injury was all I was living and breathing. (The advice to use the TENS came from Tom Ivers.) I rented the machine from local medical supply place. It was pretty expensive to rent, but I would do it again.
I think it worked, he was looking like a permanent pasture ornament prior to the TENS, and the TENS treatment was coupled with lots of rest and real gradual come-back work. He is no longer earning his living on the trails, however, he has a nice home as a kid's backyard horse, but has been sound ever since.
