This astro-turf concept sounds interesting.

I am currently riding is a sports saddle with a skito pad. At our last ride
(a 30 mile CTR) we vetted out with quite a sore back. Not only did my horse
dip his back when the vet ran his hands along it, he also groaned! :-(

My horse stands 15 hands at the withers and 15:1 at the rump. I think this
is part of our problem. Have you ever heard of anyone adding the astro turf
to the skito (having both the foam and the astro turf in the insert pocket)?
Could the astro turf be used as a shim? How would you hold it in place?
Where would you put the shim? My horse's soreness was in the area under the
cantle. Last season (without the skito, just using the ss and a hospital
felt pad) his soreness was behind the cantle.

Got any ideas to cure my back problem? p.s. I weigh 127
pounds.
