If your horse has a TB type of conformation in the 1st 6" depth of his back,
you may need to raise (and also narrow) the saddle with at least a 1" felt
pad. If the saddle is too wide, it will not be supported, even though it is
not resting on the withers.Impact is an important consideration, longer rides
need more cushioning. Therapeutic pads are great, but cost, and may not be
what you have to do; I'd try other things first. Years and years ago when
horses were used more and fed less saddles were made for the individual, and
stayed with that horse. Our saddles today, sort of fit most, some come closer
to it than others, but you pay for them. I hope that helps. Others may have
