Just to add my 2 cents, I lost my first horse about 17 years ago after
he choked on a hay cube. He subsequently contracted pneumonia which was
misdiagnosed. By the time the vet gave up on the problem and I hauled
him to UC Davis to get xrayed, most of his lung tissue was destroyed by
liquid and I had to put him down. That was the hardest thing I had ever
had to do at the time. Something to think about.
