Thank You All

I would like to thank everyone who wrote, sent cards, flowers, donations
to
his Memorial Fund and made
phone calls, following the Death of my Husband, Rick. I have not been
able
to sit down and write a "thank you" until today.
Rick was a Special Person, He was a farm boy, Driving Tractors
before he was in School. He did so much farming that he never wanted to
do it again. "Too Much Work', he would say. But he loved me and accepted
my passion for the horses and the Distance Riding Sport. He never rode
but one time on my Appy Chief, he really wasn't interested. But he helped
me take care of the Horses and would feed them without complaint when I
would be gone for multiple weekends or weeks in a row for the North
American Championships.
He was an Avid Mountain Bike Rider and a member of a local Bike
Club, (well actually, 2 clubs). He would take his mountain bike and ride
with me when I went trail riding. It was great PR for the concept of
Bikers and trail riders to share a multi-use trail. My horses also learned
not to fear the other bikers.
He also helped me put on several Endurance Rides and Competitive
trail Rides. (Sometimes here he would complain, and swear he's never do
it again.) He would also help at
some of the rides he would go to with me.
He wouldn't go to many rides with me, but if I could find ones
with Hot showers and Flush Toilets he might agree to go. He's say "My
idea of camping is the Holiday Inn". He also said he had "camped"
enough when he was in Vietnam.
I was lucky enough to have him in my life for 16 years, he taught me many
wonderful lessons about getting along with others, taking things "One Day
at a Time", and enjoying life to the fullest.
He never wanted to be sick or get really old, so it was fitting he
went quickly. He lived well, loved well and died well. I will miss him
greatly.
Thanks again for all of your support in such a sad, sad time. My
life will go on, however, I seem to be on a Different Trail than the one I
was on several weeks ago. Wonder where it will take me?
