Please. In the front of the book Nicholas Evans says: "Many thanks are
due to the following: ...... Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman ....."
I didn't recognize any others from the horse world.

And I would say that he probably did completely make up the character, or
stole him from "Bridges....." I couldn't get past the first page of THAT
hideous writing, but was seduced by the book jacket and title of
"Whisperer" and the promise of insights from Dorrance, Hunt and Brannaman.
Wrong. Yuck.
