<< Now that I think about it, does this also mean that riders who can't run
alongside their horse should make all the runners stop running so the
field is leveled? How about restricting the folks with lots of crew so
the no-crew person isn't disadvantaged, or maybe we could have
categories for people that have RVs, because they probably got a better
night's sleep and hotter coffee than the folks in tents. How 'bout
handicapping based on how well the saddle fits, or maybe some allowances
for parents that are also having to worry about what Junior is up to
back at camp?

Or, how 'bout we just get on the damn horse and ride and do the best we
can with what we have? Why is this such a naive idea? >>

Three Cheers Susan!!! Nowhere in nature is there such a thing as a "level
playing field"--but alas, it is fasionable to be "politically correct" and
attempt to legislate "fairness" into everything. Life ain't "fair" folks,
nor is sports--nor is it supposed to be, nor would we want it so! For that
would require cooned humans raised in identical conditions riding identically
trained cloned horses. Would be "fair"--but would it be any fun? As Sue
says, get on your horse, and go out there and do the best you can. Hey, I'm
only an endurance "wannabee" as of yet. I weigh 125--and if I ever had to
start putting lead in the saddlebags in the name of "fairness"--I'd go do
dressage or something. I get enough of that nonsense outside of my horse
life--
