The drawing was at the closing banquet on Sunday night and Jack Enderle =
is the winner. Jack was a competitor for Pacific South at the ride and =
only bought one ticket, but one was enough!
The Mt Squad rasied approX $4000 from this raffle thanks to the support =
of people all over the US and especially thanks to Bazy Tankersley owner =
of Al-Marah Arabians in Tucson for donating the horse. The money raised =
from the raffle was able to pay for most of the expenses for all 6 =
riders and the one alternate on the Squad. The Squad jackets were =
donated by Dean Jackson/ Sundowner of Utah, the halters were donatedl by =
Corry & Dave Clinton/Horse Dacor; and the rider's polos were donated by =
Lynn Cudlip's company Bio-Environment.
It was an exciting event even though our horse SA Dust Devil+/ didn't =
get to start since one of those dumb things horses do had to happen on =
his practice ride Wednesday. He clipped his right front bulb and was =
just off enough on Friday from it that he couldn't pass the Vet in. An =
even sadder hard luck story is that a Canadian horse couldn't pass the =
vet in of Friday because the horse was stung by a bee on the hock, hence =
it was swollen and the horse was off. =20
There are always disappointments especially at rides of this caliber, =
the good side is that Dusty is fine and is ready to do a great 100 mile =
ride. He's just confused as he just got home tonight from this very long =
trailer ride and doesn't understand why he he didn't get to do what he =
loves, and that's endurance race.=20
Thanks again for all the support from a great Mt Squad.
