Just a word about these full length boots - although we haven't had much of a
problem of heta build-up, I have heard that it can be a problem. The problem
we HAVE had is excessive rubbing, especially if a grain of sand gets down
into them. Because they are such a lovely, snug fit, whatever gets into them
doesn't usually get OUT, unless you take them off. In addition, they need
cleaning when distance horses use them, and they seem to stiffen over usage,
thus rubbing even more. It seems that they are wonderful for coniditioning or
for performance horses in an arena setting. But for 50 plus miles down the
road, while we might use then again given certain circumstances, we are leery
of them. And let's not even get INTO SCRATCHES from them! You might try a
good quality neoprene ankle boot that fits well an is lightweight enough not
to stiffen up from continued sweating and cleaning. That is what we finally
went to.
Good luck!
