Sorry to be so late with my question but I was out of town for a week.
I have had two horses "sand colic". These horses were on ample grass
pasture and/or grass hay. The sand that caused the problems was found to
be in the water source, a stream that runs year round thru my pasture.
Both cases were treated prior to a severe colic as I noticed chronic
diahrea. (Sorry, can't spell today). I can't prove that these horses
would have coliced severely, as I can not prove they would not have either.
The water source has been changed to troughs. Both horses lead normal
lives post treatment for removing the sand from the gut.
What are your thoughts on this? Should this particular problem have a new
or different name attached?
Thanks in advance,
Bonnie
