This is exactly the opposite of what I was taught years ago. I was
taught to straighten his head - not to stear towards the object - and
to apply light pressure with the outside leg to straighten his
body. This has worked for me on a variety of horses. Seems to put
them back in the work mode and take their minds off the object. This
way we keep going down the road (trial) straight without a fight. Of
course this won't work for a major spook with a halt.
