I realize that there is limited research in dietary sulfur requirements in
horses - perhaps the above information has been superceded.

MSM is MethylSulfonylMethane.
Its legal justification is that it is a source of Sulfur for use in feeds
that are Sulfur deficient. When used in that manner, it is entirely legal
and not testable.
When used in mega-doses (>1000x above dose), MSM has anti-inflammatory
effects. In these dosages, in events controlled by AERC (American
Endurance Ride Conference) or FEI (F�d�ration �questre International), MSM is
testable and prohibited.
Too many people do not understand the difference in feeding it as a source
of Sulfur and feeding it for its anti-inflammatory effects. The same
substance can be legal and illegal depending on its dosage and desired
effect.
