Dear Friend,I am the French painter Guingand and I am writing this letter to present to you
the "Shadow of the Stars" web site of my art work created back in 1987. Furthermore, I'd like to
present the future "Shadow of the Stars" international art operation and auction sale in America.
Since 1987 I have been creating character portrayals by painting only their shadows.Since
I started my work,150 stars and international key figures have posed for me,enabling me to capture
their shadows painted on 6 feet 6 inches x 5 feet canvasses.Every personality, star and international
key figure that poses for me signs the piece created by me.
Example of stars and personalitys who posed for my art work:Steven Spileberg,Liza Minnelli,
Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall, Oliver Stone, Margaux Hemingway,Anthony Quinn,Catherine Deneuve,
Sylvester Stallone, Kim Novak, Léonardo DiCaprio, Claudia Schiffer, Sean Penn, Cher,Jasper Johns,
Barbara Hendricks, Léo Castelli, Naomi Campbell,Robert Altman,Karl Lagerfeld,Helmut Newton,Kate
Moss,Gérard Depardieu,The French President Mr.Jacques Chirac....
To my knowledge, there has never been any works of art such as mine, immortalizing the
human shadow.Just imagine if the shadows of Jesus,Mozart,Napoléon Bonaparte,Abraham Lincoln,
or Picasso had been captured during their lifetimes and signed by them, the works would undoubtedly
be priceless by now.
My work is and will remain to be the only work of its kind to have been exhibited in the Louvre
in Paris, France; in March 1995 my exhibition was placed under the distinguished patronage of the
French Prime Minister at that time,Mr.Edouard Balladur, along with Ms.Claudia Schiffer as a patron.
Wishing to help solve the problems of mankind, seven years ago I decided to support the Humanity
associations.
In Paris,on June 1,1995 an auction sale took place for my work and all of the funds aised were
donated to help the fight against AIDS in France. Some of the patrons at the event were the French
Minister of Culture Mr.Philippe Doust-Blazy, Ms.Carla Bruni and Peter Gabriel along with 1600 guests.
As a result of this auction I donated $500,000 to the fight against AIDS.
Anyone who would like to view my work can do so on the web site "Shadow of the Stars" (US),
display of 300 pages URL, http://www.ShadowOfTheStars.com
Presently, in the United States of America, we are preparing a major international operation
"Shadow of the Stars". I intend to paint the shadows of 50 of the greatest stars and celebrities
symbolizing America throughout the world. This work will be exibited and auctioned in the United States
and on the Internet, enabling buyers from the whole world to make offers before the auction and to bid
on the actual date of the auction. All of the funds raised through this auction in the U.S. will be donated
by me to an American Association (of a humanitarian type to be determined). Since 1987, I alone have
provided all the financial support for my work. However, I am not a wealthy man. Therefore,I have
decided to create and sell "Shadow of the Stars" diplomas and "Shadow of the Stars" T-shirts to help
finance this prestigious operation planned for America.
The " Shadow of the Stars " diplomas: Each contributor will receive a " Shadow of the Stars "
diploma in their name for the selected category based upon the amout of the contribution.Along with the
Diploma will be a special letter of gratitude signed by me to each contributor.
There will be four different categories:(1) standard supporter's diploma
(2) supporter's diploma with a red seal
(3) donor's diploma with a silver seal
(4) benefactor's diploma with a gold seal
Furthermore, I intend on thanking all contributors in a book entitled " The Story of the Shadows "
1987/2000. This book will be published in the year 2001 and will tell the story of my work. There will be
three chapters listing the names of the contributors in each category to thank them for their support of
the "Shadow of the Stars" art operation in America.
