<< Finally put her on
good ole Source. I give her 1 1/2 scoops once a day. Been a couple of
years now and have not had any problems (other than stone bruises - I live
in VA) since. Only thing I that I see on the negative side is that she can
barely go 5 weeks without a trim -- her feet start getting long!! I really
believe that a good supplement with everything in it is the best choice >>

Both of my horses are on Source, and I too see an incredible rate of hoof
growth. In fact, the first summer David was on Source my farrier would come
out and mutter, "Animal looks like a &^@#*(^% Park horse, Trish. What you
been feedin' him?" I started my horses on Source when I noticed my aged
gelding Tash's feet beginning to suffer cracks and splits in the winter when
I rode him after shoes had been removed for the season--owned the horse all
his life, practically, and this had never happened before. Put him on Source
and noticed an improvement within a couple of months. In fact, when my
farrier for trimming he noticed a big difference--said Tash's feet were
healthier than just about any horse he'd been trimming that winter.
I still think I should add some Bioten though, because as far as I know
Source does not contain this nutrient. Although Source definately improves
hoof growth and elasticity, it is the hoof wall thickness and sole health
benefits of the bioten I'm seeking. Neither supplement PREVENTS stone
bruises, far as my reading has told me, but horses on bioten have hooves
which recover from stone bruising much quicker. As we know, even stamping at
flies in a barn can cause microscopic bruising of the hoof. And I must
condition on gravel roads, primarily--any advantage I can give my guy is
worth a shot. I am concerned about "over-supplementation," but I don't think
Source and bioten are the same supplements. Any thoughts on this would be
greatly appreciated however!
