Now here's something you don't think about everyday!

Tonight while I'm messing around with my water tank, I notice that one of
my overhead lights blinked on and off. I reached up and did a quick on
and off of the switch. When I did that I noticed that the switch thingy
was loose and did not stay up and just went to the off position. As i was
fooling around with it I noticed that the switch itself was warm and
thought HMMM. But not much else. I thought well maybe there is
something I can strike with a sharp blow <Well it works when fixing other
things>! So I took off the plate and took a closer look at the switch.
Well, here's where the title of this little story comes in the Switch was
HOT, not just the top, but the whole thing. So I disconnected the switch
and took it out of the wall. Boy was it hot!
Lucky for me it had some type of connectors on the wires so I just
had to pull the connectors out of the switch, No bare wires. (I'm a
Social Worker, not an Electrician!)
I told my
husband when he
got home and received a round of ATTA GIRLS!! He was proud that I decided
to take it apart and said that the trailer could have burned up. Now i
never would have thought of that!
So I guess the Moral of the story is that we are never safe from an
Electrical fire, and to check your wiring for shorts when the lights start
acting up.
This would have been bad if it had done this while I was sleeping in the
trailer at a ride, since the fire would have started next to the door.
