I just got home from my annual physical. Was momentarily shaken but have
recovered. The nurse practitioner was interviewing me about my wellness
program. She asked if I got any regular exercise such as walking. I said
"Sure, and I horseback ride as well."
She then said "That's not good." My 1st thought was that I had some ailment.
So I asked her why it wasn't good. She told me it was because "All you do is
just sit there. That's not exercise." Whew, I had no debilitating disease,
just a nurse who had no clue about the rigors of horseback riding. I tried
to set her straight (unsuccessfully)--she just smiled and said, "I just got
back from a trip to Wyoming and there were lots of dude ranches. Lots of
people riding and it didn't look like they were working too hard. In fact I
might try it sometime. It looked like fun."
At that point I didn't care what she believed about riding--I was just glad
to leave my doctor with a clean bill of health.
