<< I'm not as black and white as Bob Morris is, but I agree with his
sentiments - many riders take horses out on trails that are one step away
from a minor or major disaster. >>
I agree Mike! Yet still I say--a horse does not have to be able to be trail
ridden in a halter to qualify for "safe for the trails" status. I worked
David in an enclosed area for a year before I ever took him out on the road
or trails, and we intersperse our trail riding with regular ground and ring
work. But I know he would not be a safe horse to ride out of the area in
only a halter--and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I do take issue with these
folks I meet often on the trails out here who have enough hardware on their
horses head to open a mideaval tack shop with--
Trish & "pretty David" (who says, "aw, come on ma! ride me with a halter!
I'll be good! Really!)
