Horse Treats

Other than the occassional carrot and apple, the only treats I give my
horse with any regularity are alfalfa cubes. I bought a bag, and they are
lasting me forever. (I guess they are actually sold to be a supplement,
but Sage -my 17 yo arab cross- has 24 hour turnout on 55 acres of good
grass) I give her 4 or 5 cubes in with her grain and maybe 2 or 3 after
our workout. She loves them. (I sneak some to the other horses at the
farm as well, and now they clamor over me when I get there. Such a simple
thing, its good for them, and they love it. And a whole bag (the size of
a feed bag) cost something like $7. I have had the same bag for almost a
month. (Would be longer, but the bag got wet and I threw half of them
away. Learned my lesson, I keep them in a garbage can now)
On another note, there is one horse on the farm that just LOVES werthers
butterscotch candies.
Peace and happy riding!
