A friend of mine has a strange problem with her horse, a six year old Morgan
gelding. This horse will suddenly fall, face to the ground for absolutely no
apparent reason. I observed this happen Wednesday as we rode at Pt Reyes.
Moments before we had been trotting, and were at the time walking at a good
pace when suddenly he went forward right on to his face. The trail was a
relatively smooth dirt road (the Bear Valley Trail for those who know it).
There was no apparent cause. Feet were in good shape, etc. She said that this
had happened a number of times before to the extent that she was becoming
quite uncomfortable riding the horse as she had taken some hard falls. This
is a well- conformed and very well cared for animal. Anyone out there with
ideas of what might be going on.
