Well, for you bloodline watchers, I looked up some stats on the
gelding. On A High (Elvis) is by Trinity Baruch (Baske-Tu x Countess
Maranado). Both sire lines trace to *Bask. He is out of Sharafa
Ilmaliki (Bright Honor x Bint Setarra). The names Skowronek, Abu Farwa,
Gulastra, Ibn Yashmak, and *Nasik are everywhere in this pedigree. He
is owned, as of the end of 1996, by David St Charles. He was bred by
Wayne Lamphiear of Elma, WA and his birthdate is April 30, 1984. He has
at least two full siblings: Chief Mohawk, a grey 1985 gelding, and
Someday Diamonds, a grey 1986 mare. They are currently owned by
different people according to the Arabian Bookshelf CD. Also, dig out
your November 1995 issue of EN and look on page 15 for the article, "'On
A High' Highlights North American Championships" by Tricia Booker. It's
chalk-full of info on this team.
