One of the most effective cures for scratches that we have found on the
hot/humid East Coast has been to scrub the affected area with an iodine
shampoo, using a scubbie pad if possible to remove all scales, then
thoroughly dry the area with towels. Next, apply a film of Dy's Liquid
Bandage (from ABC). Repeat as necessary. Improvement should be noted in a
day or two. Dy's has olive oil & beeswax as the base and includes aloe
vera, tea tree oil, bee pollen, yarroway, myrrh, etc. The beeswax acts to
coat the wound with a breathable & flexible seal.
