I don't believe the vet scoring system was ment to be a "report card" and
it should not be the only communication you have with the vet about your
horse. I always value the short time with the vet and ask specific
questions if I have any concerns. Most horses have their own "key
parameters" - a small set of parameters that are red flages. In Misty it
was gut sounds. This horse always had good gut sounds. If her gut sounds
were diminished then something was wrong. She didn't get pulled much, but
I always asked the vet about her gut. If I had any concern I would ask the
vet to pay special attention to the gut. If the gut was down - I pulled
her.

I pulled once and the vet actaully started to "argue" with me about being
premature in pulling. I am glad I did and I'd do it again.
