>>For a stallion, the most important thing to me - would be that something
"special" - the "look of eagles". I would look for a stallion that "ah's"
you
at first glance.>>

Why would that be important? Almost any stallion has that look, it comes
with the hormones. The most important thing in any gender of horse is
conformation from the feet up.

<<Then check out the rest. If you want an endurance horse,
then I would breed only to a proven endurance stallion.>>

I would not worry much about the stallion's endurance record. There are
not many stallions in endurance. Due to the metabolism of their gender,
they are physiologically disadvantaged to mares and geldings when it comes
to our sport. If a stallion is consistantly placing out front with the
mares and geldings, and has excellent conformation and consistant
bloodlines, I'd consider him. Otherwise, I'd just breed to a well
conformed, inexpensive stallion with consistant (not too diverse)
bloodlines. I think the mare is the most important half of a mating. Her
record and get's records would be more important than the stallion's.
