I think what Bruce was trying to say was that Geldings tend to be easier
to handle because of the lack of hormones that Mares and Stallions have, I
may be wrong here but that was my impression.
Your mention of Cougars Fete supports Bruce's point (if I have the correct
point that is) because I sat by Erin McChesney (SP?), Cougar Fete's owner
and rider, at the MRER convention this year and from the stories about
"Fete" that Erin told I got the impression that Fete is QUITE a handful.
Erin kept our table entertained for an hour or more telling stories of
"...and after I got that problem fixed, she (Fete) started pinning one ear
back and ONLY turning to the right..." Erin and Fete make an excellent
match because Erin is an AMAZING horsewoman and Fete is "Dennis the Mennace
(SP?)".
I agree with you that Fete is one of the top endurance horses, but I would
not trade my nice calm gelding for her!
