Note, I didnt use bloodlines in subject.
I have read with interest the great discussion on breeding or selecting a
horse for our sport. KISS is my motto in this regard so here we go:-
2 Choose a Gelding
Do I need to explain why a gelding is preferable to mares and stallions??
---------------
As long as you don't try to pass this off as any "fact"; when it is
just your OPINION. Any number of mares have been top endurance
horses, including Cougars Fete, who has won both the grueling Tevis
Cup AND the Haggin cup for best condition twice!
The sex of the horse is one of the last things that I would
personally consider. I just don't consider it very relevant if the
horse is the right price, conformation, attitude and training you
requite.
I don't even necessarly prefer mares over geldings, but fate has
given me only mares to own!
