A missing beat is not necessarily bad. It can be genetic. A well-known
horse in the SE Region competed agressively for many years and miles,
and routinely had a missing beat. P&R crews had to be instructed how to
count him at the vet gates -- the normal way was to count the "missing"
beat as if it was there.

BTW, AIR the horse did not miss any beats at elevated (working) heart
rates, just when the heart rate was down.
