Localized sweating is a sign of a killed nerve. The explaination
I've heard was a few years ago, so I won't try to misexplain it myself.
Basically, if the nerve is dead, the tissues around the location have
a reaction which can be sweating. (Something about sympathic nerves?)
Many years ago, Pharalina coliced (I paniced). The vet gave her an IV
shot, which first time in missed the vein and hit the artery. Vet pulled
out needle, said "She'll probably get a hemotoma there", and then correctly
put in the needle and gave her the shot. The needle caused a hemotoma,
which killed the nerve going to the throax, which made Pharalina a roarer
overnight. What I saw was a sweaty patch over the area where the needle
had gone in. Pharalina also had an elevated heart rate and was breathing
very heavy.
My guess is that Yaled had an injury to his stifle which you may not
have even seen, but which caused additional damange. The sweating
patch may be the location of the killed nerve.
