trail marking

One common tip that several of you gave me for the next time I mark trail -
and, oh yes I know there will be a next time. I know this is just like
anything else - once you agree to do it once they have your name for life
:-)) Anyway, I digress....the tip was to put the ribbon on a clothespin and
just clip them to the trees/limbs and then unclip them after the ride - also
makes them reuseable. *Very* good idea.

Any other ingenious tips for marking trail?? Or for ease of unmarking later?

We used the 3 ribbons on the side of the turn for turns - we felt like that
was pretty common way to mark turns (in addition to some pie plates if there
was any concern about confusion) - what does everyone else do for turns? I
tried to keep in mind that at some spots the front runners would be really
cruising so gave plenty of warning that a turn was coming - then put a few
confidence markers on the right after the turn so riders will know they made
the right choice :-)

other tips? idea? suggestions?
