Hi Mary,

I have been uncertain about the Sport Saddle because of the possibility
of what you describe has happened on your horse's back under where your
derriere sits. The reason I came to that idea is that some years ago I rode
one of my horses bareback on some tough conditioning rides for 6 weeks and
caused some white hairs to appear under where my seat bones sat. I used a
regular bareback pad over a thick synthetic felt pad. The welts could be
caused by incorrect saddle fit or balance which can sometimes be corrected.
For instance, the Orthoflex saddles can cause welts behind the cantle are
which usually indicates that the front part of the saddle is actually is
going downhill on the horse's back and the back part is up air so to speak
and is fish tailing (moving from side to side). Getting the front part of
the saddle up can just about eliminate the welts. Hope this is of some help.

Good Luck,
