I can't resist sending what was, to me, an amusing anecdote about
the elasticity of real mohair girths -- Back in the early '80's I had not
washed my mohair (3) girths in time to ride with each one to know they would
fit as I wished -- the longest one the first day, shorter, 2nd day, etc.
(going to 3 day 100).
So, about eight o'clock the night before I was to leave for the
ride, I saddled each of my three horses with whichever of the well shrunken
but clean girths would fit which horse.
I guess you know what the horses were asking me ... the mildest of
which, ARE you CRAZY? Didn't take long and the girths surely were custom
fit for that ride!
