Rooney responds: Knee twister #4

Talked directly to Jim Rooney today and want to thank all of you for forcing
me to develop the courage to interrupt this good man in the midst of his
semi-retirement--he's just a delight to talk to.

Briefly, his answer to our questins about knee realignment is "Pure
Bullshit." He says that while small rotations in the joint occur normally
with load, there is no way for any subluxation to occur without total
breakdown. The ulnaris lateralis, should it become hypertonic, would simply
cause an "over at the knee" situation, since it is connected to the accessory
carpal.

Jim told me a story of a chiropractor working central Kentucky treating horse
backs and making a lot of money. He'd go along the back with his
manipulations and there would suddenly be a "pop" and he'd say "Yep, there it
is." and the treatment would soon be over. Dr. Bill MCGee got himself into a
position where he could see the man's hands at work and noticed that the
gentleman had trained himself to click fingers with his thumb and little
finger--and this is where the "pops" were coming from. They guys was run out
of town by the vet community--the good old days.

Jim says he's worked on a lot of animals living and dead, and has never been
able to make much noise come from fooling around with joints and bones. He'd
guess that the noisemaking is pure chicanery.

Let me suggest, once again, that if you haven't ever seen this world famous
vet in person that you do the next best thing and get his videos, published
by Russell Meerdink, Inc. This is the real thing--get a feel for how it acts,
walks, and talks. Then you'll know, as Lennart Krook would say, "The
difference between a duck."
