Just a thought drawn from our own personal experience regarding a
horse stocking up on all fours. The horse had been purchased by my
riding partner and came to us in less than 100% condition due to an
accident and subsequent stall rest. However, we were assured that the
feeding program was good. To make a long story short, the mare was on
too-high of a protein diet which was causing all four legs to be stocked
up. We switched to rolled oats and a good-quality grass hay; we've
never had any stocking up in this mare since even after aggressive exer-
cise. We also feed ABC Plus, biotin, C-Flex, and a vitamin supplement.
