Finally I didn't use the 'ribbon system'. I agree also with the opinion
of Wendy even if I'm quite sure he will not react negativly at the
ribbon system. This horse is not mad; the problem is that he is watching
to much his environment; he is all the time with the ears straight, eyes
checking for everything, nose open in order to smell...who knows what
will happend...
Wendy, I already practiced what you're advising : keeping him alert,
changing the pace, turning around trees, taking and giving(sorry...not
sure of this expression in english...I mean the 'hands without legs,
legs without hands' system of the old french school); but this doesn't
work.
Now I'm trying another system: I take one very long thin branch of tree
and clic on anything just to make noise : fences, trees, rocks,
etc...this de-sensibilize him quite a lot, especially when I'm beginning
the ride and warming him up (the most difficult part). But at a quite
faster pace like canter, this is not possible any more, so then I use
the system of changing the pace all the time.
The incredible part of the story is the fact that he doesn't behave like
that during a race; then he just care from being in the lead...
But everybody hes his own problem...isn't it? This is mine...
Cheers
Leonard
