Goals:
Teach the horse to trust YOU as a shelter from what is scaring it.
Teaches the horse to look at what is scaring it instead of running
away. Gives you that extra second to direct the horses response
elsewhere. To relax the horse using methods practiced at home....
I basically have only my left arm to type with. Cheryl, would you feel
up to sharing some of the methods your Lyon's trainer used for Jihad? I
know it helped you with him, right?
Horse and Rider also carried a series of articles during 96 on basic
round pen training.
Now Mystery will jump when he is spooked, but he will jump in place and
I can deal with that.
Its those cutting horses that spin who throw me off guard!
Also, for those people getting too many posts; I subscribe to the
digest and only get 3 or 4 long ones a day. Then I copy it into a text
editor and read it off line at my leisure. Makes it a lot easier to
handle.
And for others new to the list be sure to check archives ans the new
FAQ's. Tom Ivers...how about putting togethrt an FAQ on hoof angles?
I'm glad you are back and well.
Happy & safe riding toll,
Kimberly (&Mystery The Morab)
