We are in the south part of North Texas. Hot, dry and rocky, and I think
that we probably have all the snakes that you don't. We see a lot of them
on trail, but so far haven't had one strike while riding by... I worry
about it a lot. The horses seem to be able to smell them (??). I did have
one mare bitten in the pasture, I think she must have kicked it, I had to
pull a large fang out of her fetlock. But she didn't seem to have any
problems other than a lot of swelling and a fairly bad wound from the
poison right at the bite spot.

What kind of problems do you have with them, I wonder about how to handle a
bite out on trail, especially on a hot horse with a high heart rate.??
