If a horse is really running full-out, I would think not more than a mile
(top horse to go that far).
During his peak racing days, Fi could maintain about a strong gallop (not
full run) for up to an hour on a cool day with a good trail. With about
15-20 min trotting, he could go another 45 min to 1hr at the gallop.

Reading the ride results, you can see many horse/riders average 10-12 mph
over the distance.
