<< Not taking sides here, but the above puzzles me--why should it be
acceptable to "warn" people about Teddy or other "dealers", but not for
them to "warn" about alleged "deadbeats"?
Personally, I say it ain't appropriate *either* way, but what's
sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Agreed. In another group, Rec.guns, we warn each other of all sorts of
potential trouble trading with one or another individuals, or dealers, but
usually the numbers are big ones and the risks significant.
Having been in business for most of my life, the wisdom of these kinds of
situations is: don't do stupid things, and if you do, don't bitch when it
goes wrong--just count on the fact that people who do you injury invariably
are injured themselves--what goes around comes around.
