A few other items: Lucy and Chris lost their transmission on the way to the
ride.
Then our truck and trailer got stuck in sugar sand with the horses on board
ARG!!!!!!
Then Asterix was a grade one, and they said I could go, but is that good
horsemanship? So I pulled. I am as happy about not starting as a person can
be (which isn't very, no matter how many horror stories they tell me).
Then we are standing there wondering what to do with Trix, because we know
how he doesn't care one iota about pain when he has a higher calling (Hawk),
when Deena comes by and offers her trailer.
She seemed a little spacy, but who isn't when running a ride? Turns out she
is severely dehydrated AND has dangerously high blood pressure. She was too
far gone to know how bad off she was. When she checked her pressure later it
was well over 200! Then she ended up in the emergency room because it
wouldn't come down.
I talked to her this morning, and she said she is feeling slightly more
human -- thank goodness.
Then PJ, our crew, trips over the trailer hitch in the dark and thinks she
might have broken her leg. Turns out to be simply a puncture wound to the
bone :-0. She braved it out and says she is fine and is glad it hasn't
turned black . . . yet . . . and how often do you need a tetnus . . . and am
I really sure it is every ten years.
Anyway Hawk told me to improve Steve's map skills, and ride management
promised to put out so many markers next year that riders won't be able to
see the trees.
We leave in a couple days for FL 100. Poor Steve, I can't imagine he REALLY
wants to jump on a greenie.
Who knows maybe I will be able to ride next year. . . .pretty sick, huh?
