Scheduling...ride entry forms spread out on the kitchen table, the bifocals
coming in handy as I read the fine print. A glance at the calendar for the
bigger picture.

All the limited distance NE CTRs that are local are all in April...duh, we
just had a snow event!

Didn't make it into the Cornwall--the new ride location proving to be a
popular option despite the April 6 ride date. Tenth on the waiting list.
Wait it out, withdraw, use the money for another one further along in the
month? Got in the Bunny Hop the following weekend. Skip a week? These are
fairly easy, straightforward, did them last year type of rides. Hmmm.
Settled on the Shenadoah 25, new to me, hope I get in.

The drawback to CTRs--you have to pre-enter. Boucoup bucks up front...tough
on the checkbook.

Fussed all night about the "program".

Tossed and turned, at the edge of sleep all night long, then finally settled
into the deep well of dreams....stark, clear, real enough to believe.

I'm looking at a ride list....I'm way down, the disappointment palpable.
And there, just ahead of me...a name.

Martha Stewart.

Martha Stewart rides? Really? The vapid sneer, the disapproval
palpable...my day-glo orange biothane tack with the deep purple reins
unacceptable, the co-ordinating fanny pack, a red rump rug, my bright orange
(gasp!) tights an assault on her cultivated senses. This is a rag-tag army
of escapees from fashion hell...quite delicious.

I really must stop reading Good Housekeeping before retiring.
