Killing two saddles with one stone

Hi, all;

I'm both an amateur at the Net and endurance having competed in only one 35
and previous to that ridden lots of distance for pleasure and done P and R
to help friends on the ride they hosted (that's where I was hooked-the
excitement and fellowship-great combination!)

My riding has been done in an Aussie stock saddle (stirrups are hung a bit
too far back) and/or a Wintec close-contact all-purpose which I like pretty
well. However, after trying the cutting version of a Bob Marshall-type (a
sanctioned copy by some other company, I think), I would like to track down
something similar but one that I could get away with in English classes in
small shows. I have checked ads very briefly but am uncertain if what I
see would be acceptable, other than a couple of beautiful leather models
that are way too much money for me, especially when converted into U.S.
dollars.

You pros out there-have you used a "treeless" saddle for English classes as
well as distance? What do you recommend I look for? Can one jump in these
saddles? I'm assuming if they can be used uphill and down dale in
endurance they will stay put jumping? Is this correct? I am probably
interested in a second hand saddle but new would be fine, if I can afford
it.

Thanks in advance for your help. Lurking over archives and recent posts
has already given me a great deal of valuable info' and my new, skinny
little Polish Arab is benefitting from your expertise re: feeding and is
putting on the pounds.
