I had a revealing day today about the arab gelding I had posted the other
day for sale. I did some background checking on him and the women who sold
him 5 months ago to the man I got him from lives only 2 blocks from me!!!
Small world. I talked to the man I got him from and he told me, "If the
Kidd gives you trouble just punch him! That always straightens him out."
Then he proceeded to tell me how he has to fight him whenever he rode him.
NO WONDER HE IS AFRAID OF PEOPLE!!!!! Then the women who HE bought him from
came over with pictures. She had him 6 years and only gelded him 1.5 years
ago. All the grand-kids were riding him in the pics, he was a comedian and
very loving in all of the pics. Half the album was of The Kidd and he was a
happy guy, mentally especially. 5 MONTHS is all it took for one stupid,
ignorant, hit first ask questions later type horseperson to totally wreck a
wonderful horse's confidence. Boy am I P_SSED! It will take all my will
power to not scream at the guy next time I have to call him for papers
again! The most profound thing about the whole day was that Nancy (Kidd's
real Mom) came over to see him and he perked up and you could tell he
recognized her. He went right up to her, which he never does with me yet,
and had his head down and was loving being petted. She cried, I cried, Megg
cried, yeah we were a bunch of crying women:} Anyway he is still for sale,
but I am not going to rush him to get him ridden again, I will progress at
his pace, not my aggenda and anyone I sell him to has to give me their
background, experience, horse caretaking practices and at least 3 horse
references. Not to be untrustworthy but I couldn't bear if this happened to
The Kidd again. Thanks all for letting me vent:}!
