Finally back and somewhat up to par. It was a pretty good convention
this year. Not as good as some, better than most. I have gone
for...gosh I don't know how many years. And you guys out West come on
down/over and join us next year in Kentucky. Quite a few of us come out
there every year.
Thanks for all that bought raffle tickets. I think AERC did pretty
well on that. Those that received a prize, please write the person that
sponsered it. It is very hard to get donations and for them to keep it
up...well they should be incouraged.
Thanks to all those donating raffle prizes. Too numerous to mention
(it will be in the Endurance News). Without all of you it could not
continue.
On a personal note. The Pardner's award this year went to my mother,
Susan Kasemeyer!!! This award is for the horse and rider team who
demonstrates both competiveness and sportsmanship and a number of other
things. See your Endurance News to nominate the person of your choice
next year. After her terrible year last year (heart attack, thyroid
cancer) it was really a great honor for her to win. The winner receives
a plaque and a beautiful bronze statue (it returns every year).
This year is the 25th anniversery of AERC, hard to believe. I have
been involved in this wonderful sport since the late 70's. Ugh do I
feel old.
The Hall of Fame award for the horse went to Bev Gray's wonderful
horse AA Omner. And the people enducted were: Bob Suhr (we all thought
he was already in!), Lavonne Booth, and Lawton Johnson. These people
have been in the sport for (I think he said) a combined 67 years!
