Just catching up after returning from the convention. I had a wonderful
time!
I met several of the RideCamp folks and talked to Steph in person. That
was great fun!
I didn't get to spend as much time at the trade show as I wanted. But,
did get to several board and committee meetings and to the lectures.
(Oh, yes-- and the parties)!
The lectures were informative. But none were topics that really excited me. The rider panel was OK. I've heard Becky and Valerie speak in the
past. So, it was good to hear from the other riders to get the
diversity of opinion. I guess the discussion got more exciting toward
the end. (I missed that because I left early).
The most impressive part of the convention for me was the work and action
taken by the board regarding money, limited distance and marathon rides.
Your next endurance news will have various proposals to be reviewed by
the general membership. Read these carefully and make your comments to your directors. The directors will vote on the proposals after the
membership's review.
Your board worked very hard at this convention and did a wonderful job of
bringing together all the recent input from the membership. They deserve
a GREAT BIG THANK YOU!
New officers are: Pres. Dane Frazier, DVM.; VP Stagg Newman; Secy Louise
Riedel; Tres. Lynn Goleman.
I am very excited about AERC's leadership at this time. I think this
board will really get some things done. We, as general membership,
should offer our help and support to the board in any ways we can.
(Remember, you don't have to be on the board to serve on a committee).
You should get to know your board members, if you don't already, and
pledge to help them. They are a GREAT bunch of folks!
(I guess I'll have to mail order all that new tack I was going to buy at
the convention. Just not enough hours in a day.)
