Oh, let me tell you story 'bout a mare named Brooksie on a strange & fateful
day, how she terrorized her mama, took out rows of fences, & all in the name
of Play...
I'm sure you have all seen the woven electric tape, it's white with a thread
of electric wire thru it. We have used it for yrs to fence extra grazing
areas for the horses & use it now for electric fencing at rides. All of the
horses have good respect for it. When Lady Jane, Grey, was pregnant with
Brooksie, I used a section of this tape to fence off Lady Jane a good grazing
area & Lady respected that boundary. Well, sometime later, Brooksie was
about 6 mos old, & I pulled out about a 10" piece of this electric tape to
finish out a section for the two to graze upon. Interrupted by a phone call
or something, I left a little section in these two girl's fields. Well,
darling' little Brooksie pulled that 10' section out with her teeth, &
having been "in utero' when Mom was exposed it, of course had no fear.
But Mom Did. Pulling that section of tape, Brooksie chased her Mom all over
the place. Ponies scattered in all directions. Brooksie had a toy; but to
the rest of the herd she had a lethal weapon. The faster Lady Jane went, the
more Brooksie ran at her with her toy. She looked like a beserk Pom_Pom
Girl, swirling that tape over her head and back like a crazed gymnast, a few
venues short of a medal. Well, eventually Brooksie gave up the sport & I
retrieved the tape, much to the relief of us all. I "would've suggested" (g)
to Susan that should George of the Jungle be a stallion, we might breed him
to the Little Twirler Girl, but nobody in their right mind would want such
trouble makers! Just imagine what havoc they could wreak! Well, Brooksie,
has perfected comical acts, but that's enough for one post. Regards, Carol
