I'd like to know if any of the 60 or 100 milers at the 20 Mule Team Ride had
any trouble with the OHVer's that seemed to be out in-force last weekend. I
sit on the advisory board of the Jawbone Canyon OHV Facility that oversees
that area. I'd like to report to them that there was no problem between
horses and OHV's. I personally did not have any problems. I did have several
motorcyles scream by me, but since my horses have been "de-sensitized" to
OHV's, it was not a big deal.
Will you let me know? We are always discussing sharing trails at our
meetings. Although I am not an OHVer, the BLM was wise enough to place people
with different perspectives on their board. It has worked well. I am
impressed with the people from the OHV community as to their willingness to
"co-habitate" with other trail users. They appreciate having my view as an
equestrian so that they understand our concerns. I may even get the president
of the Calif. Off-Road Vehicle Assoc. to do a limited distance ride soon!
Anyway, your comments would be appreciated. That's all!
